Unfurl

Living pod by designer Ying Gao
via here

I love this work by Montreal fashion designer Ying Gao. Her Living Pod unfurls on its own when exposed to light. The garment consists of a leather coat over a dress with built-in light sensors. Brilliant and poetic.

Ohhhh I'd like to see it unfurl. I wonder how long it takes from beginning
to end?

@ Vibeke: 'unfurl' is my favourite English word. I had been waiting for an opportunity to use it on my blog. I don't just love the sound of it, but also what it represents, the movement it describes. I picture the bud of a fern in the woods, all tight and coiled. It's so beautiful when it slowly uncoils itself. That image feels like my life to me.

Your post about the moon made me smile, because I could see the computerscreen. That made me happy, to be present in your corner, somehow.

@ Carole: You can see a short clip on the site where I found it, Dezeen. I must warn you though, I was a little disappointed when I saw it. Definitely a case of my imagination beating reality.

I too am a little disappointed. I would like to see and touch it in real life maybe that would be more satisfying. Thanks for posting it.
