Shutters

Summer is making a (brief) comeback here in Antwerp. On a hot day like today I wish I lived in a beautiful, cool house with shutters.  I love these images above; they feature in my day-dreams where I always seem to be living in Italy or France. I'd pick up some wonderfully fresh vegetables at the local market and cook up a storm, invite some friends over and spend a long, leisurely evening in the garden. Just one long table and lots of laughter and wonderful conversations. Bliss.

Nice dream! :) :) I got some similar ones, in which I'm an artist somewhere in Toscana or Provence... :D

i love the ironworks! They call to my mind Eva Zeisel's 'On Design'... the chapter where she's talking about variety.

@ Agnes: I love the ironwork too! I was actually planning to do a post on that in the near future.

Thank you so much for the reference to Zeisel. I had not heard of her before, but I just did a quick-google and she looks like someone worth investigating a little more! And she's Hungarian!!! :-)

The shutters are beautiful, but that glorious wrought iron lace has me quite besotted. In both images, but especially the balcony in the second picture. So very daintily elegant!
