Drawings by artist V. Vasarely
via here

When I was little, I used to stare into my parents' poster of one of Vasarely's op-art pieces. I remember getting dizzy, how the painting seemed to move on its own. When I was 18 I visited Vasarely's house and studio in Gordes, France. I love these drawings above he made there.

wow. i used to stare at ours, too. it was like a world. i can still remember it, blue and red and grey maybe... maybe even some green... and it was not on a wall but inside the minibar or secretaire... (whatever, just a wardrobe compartment with the door folding down). i'm actually proud that he was Hungarian (well, before he left for some other place as many great Hungarians did), but i haven't had the chance to visit his museum in Pecs.

Haha... I found it, ours was this one... well, no greys, no greens:

Ours was very similar to yours but in black and white. If you looked too long at it, it could make you feel sick. I can't find an image on the net.

That's so great that you had a similar experience! Picture two young girs in different parts of the world, in different lives, both touched by this artist at about the same time.

Great art has come from Hungaria I think. I love reading Sandor Marai! You've got good heritage! :-)

Love, E.

i can imagine those two little girls... :)

i think, too, that there were (and hopefully are) many great artists in and from Hungary... (i feel really, really ashamed tho, that i hardly ever read novels, so the only work i know from Márai is a film adaptation, but i know he was very good.)
